چکیده

In this paper we present a control-theoretic approach to design stable rate-based Bow control for ATM ABR services. The flow control algorithm that we consider has the most simple form among all the queuelength-based flow control algorithms, and is referred to as Farst-order Rate-based Flow Control (FRFC) since the corresponding closed loop can be modeled as a firstorder retarded differential equation. We analyze the equilibrium and the asymptotic stability of the closed loop for the case of multiple connections with diverse round-trip delays. We also characterize the asymptotic decay rate at which the stable closed loop tends to the equilibrium. The decay rate is shown to be a concave function of control gain with its maximum being the inverse of round-trip delay. We also consider an open loop control in which the queue control threshold is dynamically adjusted according to the changes in the available bandwidth and the number of connections. This open loop control is shown to be necessary and effective to prevent the closed loop from converging to an undesirable equilibrium point.

Nonlinear Guidance Law with Finite Time Convergence Considering Control Loop Dynamics

In this paper a new nonlinear guidance law with finite time convergence is proposed. The second order integrated guidance and control loop is formulated considering a first order control loop dynamics. By transforming the state equations to the normal form, a finite time stabilizer feedback linearization technique is proposed to guarantee the finite time convergence of the system states to zero...

Dynamic Load Carrying Capacity of Mobile-Base Flexible-Link Manipulators: Feedback Linearization Control Approach

This paper focuses on the effects of closed- control on the calculation of the dynamic load carrying capacity (DLCC) for mobile-base flexible-link manipulators. In previously proposed methods in the literature of DLCC calculation in flexible robots, an open-loop control scheme is assumed, whereas in reality, robot control is achieved via closed loop approaches which could render the calculated ...

Bi-directional ABR mechanism (Decreasing feedback delays)

ABR mechanism was designed for controlling the traffic flows in ATM networks. The key factor for efficient and stable controlling of traffic control loops is fast transfer of feedback control information from the network back to the traffic source. In ABR mechanism so-called Resource Management (RM) cells are used for this purpose. Limited number of these control cells is especially noticeable ...

Modeling and Simulation of an ABR Flow Control Algorithm Using a Virtual Source/Virtual Destination Switch

The Available Bit Rate (ABR) service class of Asynchronous Transfer Mode networks uses a feedback control mechanism to adapt to varying link capacities. The Virtual Source/Virtual Destination (VS/VD) technique offers the possibility to segment the otherwise end-to-end ABR control loop into separate loops. The improved feedback delay and the control of ABR traffic inside closed segments provide ...
